Beyonce' Being Sued....

Beyonce' is being sued by Abercrombie & Fitch. The retailer is "claiming her plan for a new fragrance to be launched in early 2010 infringes on its existing trademark. In a federal lawsuit filed on Tuesday in Columbus, Ohio, Abercrombie claims a fragrance under the singer's "Sasha Fierce" label "poses a likelihood of confusion" with the retailer's own "Fierce" brand."

You can catch the whole story here.

Some news sources reported today that Beyonce' may change the name of her fragrance to "Sasha" or "Beyonce'" only.

SOLANGE IS BRINGING SEXY BACK

solange-and-beyonce

Many of my besties in the blogosphere clown on the Knowles sisters. Not because of their talent, Lord knows both of these beautiful Houston women can entertain like nobody's biz. It's because of their hair.

My amiga Fresh of Crunk and Disorderly coined the term "wig crypt" for the Knowles family, and my other amiga Luvvie, well she'd just refer to Beyonce's typical hairstyle as a flammable hairhat.

We try not to bring that kind of judgment over here at BV Hair Talk.

So I'll just say, I was so pleasantly surprised at Solange's new 'do. She is workin' the TWA like nobody's business!

Beyonce in Talk to Stay in Las Vegas

Beyonce and her mama Mrs. Knowles are in talk with Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas to schedule Beyonce to do a year round tour there for 3 years, similar to those of Celine Dion and Toni Braxton.  As of now nothing is set in stone and personally I don’t see this happening anytime in the near future because Beyonce’s career is to big to be scheduled in just one city.

Is Beyonce a Fraud???

I Am...Sasha Fierce

According to the New York Post Beyonce has been lying about some of the tracks she has written, and that she actually paid others to say she wrote them.  Read what the Post is reporting below.

Ms. Jay-Z has been called out by two different R&B ladies for not writing songs she claims are hers. According to Rap-Up magazine, Chrisette Michele revealed that Beyonce's hit single "Ego" was originally meant for her own album "Epiphany" but she decided to hand it over to the Queen B. And here is the shady part: The track is credited to producer Elvis Williams, Beyonce Knowles and Harold Lilly ... not vocal Goddess Chrisette. (Update: Beyonce was not mentioned by Christette as a writer on "Ego" when offered the song, which she turned down but did not write).

Michele says, "It was really scary for me to release my pen because I had written my first album myself. You don't know if they're going to be able to capture your voice the same way that you captured it yourself."

Something about these rumors seem a little sketchy because it is pretty obvious that someone is a Beyonce hater.

Viola Davis and Taraji Henson were both snubbed from winning an Oscar, but at least they were looking FABULOUS

Queen Latifah
A side shot of the dress
I guess Beyonce thinks the Academy Awards is more important than the Grammys
Alicia Keys and Taraji...I am loving Alicia's dress, but she could have done without the wig

Black celebrity Gossip: Etta James Goes Off on Beyonce

Seems that everyone didn't like Beyonce's performance of "At Last" for the Obama's on inauguration night. The original singer of the song,Etta James, had some harsh words for Beyonce, and even threatened her. During a performance in Seattle Etta told the audience,
"You know, YOUR President, the one with the big ears-he ain’t MY President–had that woman singing for him at his Inauguration. She’s going to get her ass whooped….Beyonce…I can’t stand Beyonce."

DAMN, she was going hard on Obama too. What is she so mad for???

Beyonce's Next Album

Beyonce' recently performed that the Bermuda Music Festival and issued this statement about her upcoming album:

“I wanted to address my fans about my upcoming album.

I have worked on this album for close to one year. I have taken the time so I can create my sound. Something that says who I am at this stage in my life. I have poured my heart and soul into it. It is my baby. It is the most time I have spent on any project since my first records as a member of Destiny’s Child when I was 15 years old. I have recorded over 70 songs and have created a sound that reveals all of me. I am in a different place right now and I wanted people to see the many sides of me. The music is upbeat for the dance, fun side and it is reflective, passionate and serious for the personal side. I have taken risks here. I am not afraid and my music will explain it all. There is no label or tag on my sound. It’s me and I am so excited to share it with the world on November 18.”

Love, Beyoncé

Good luck on the album, Bey!! We want to see the growth you're talking about in this one for sure :) We miss the old Destiny's Child sound!

YourBlackCelebrities: Psychology, Math, Society & Media Determine Who Is Beautiful

By Chiderah A. Monde

Why is it that both Angelina Jolie and Halle Berry are widely considered beautiful women, no matter what race you are, no matter what gender?

With a constantly changing world, comes a constantly changing perception of beauty. Over the years society has changed its description of what is considered the physically “ideal” or “perfect” woman. No longer does the blond bombshell grace the covers of every magazine, nor does the deathly skinny frame or pale skin.

The 21st century demanded a change, for it’s “ideal” woman, and now she has curves, dark hair, and most importantly- darker skin.

Society’s perfect woman is not necessarily Black, although everyone agrees that Beyonce, Halle Berry, Alicia Keys and Janet Jackson top a lot of lists. But darker skin is definitely in- whether it is tanned white women, foreign femmes, or mixed beauties, women like Jessica Alba, Angelina Jolie, Aishwarya Rai, Adrianna Lima and Jessica Biel have taken the place of the blond bombshell era.

There’s no question about curves being in demand too. Beyonce is the epitome of the ideal curves for a Black woman, so is Alicia Keys, and quite frankly- so is Kim Kardashian. Men agree that body and curves are sexier, and women feel more comfortable with their bodies being similar shapes to celebrity women.

The interesting thing about the changing perception of beauty is how we can all agree that these women and physical features are considered acceptable. Psychologists argue that an individual’s perception of what is considered attractive is dependent on the person’s parents. That is, we base what is beautiful on what our mothers look like, what our fathers think, and what they both teach us to be beautiful. On the other scholarly hand, some consider attraction to be dependent on symmetry. That is, anything that is symmetrical is aesthetically pleasing. Once something seems out of line, out of sync, or asymmetrical, it is not attractive.

I don’t know how I feel about all of that.

Whether it’s psychology or symmetry that determines what is beautiful, it is all amplified by society and by media. Everything we buy, wear, eat and do is reflection of what some part of society has suggested we should. And “should” is an iffy word…

Nevertheless, we might be moving in an optimistic direction. If curves, dark hair and dark skin is currently in, society is setting an example for accepting a variety of body types. With things like Dove’s Campaign for Real Beauty and Maxim’s 2008 Hot 100, the days of having only one perfect woman are long gone.

Aretha Franklin Gets Angry with Beyonce

Beyonce and Aretha Franklin apparently don't see eye-to-eye over the use of the word "queen". During the Grammys, Aretha got a little unnerved over the fact that Beyonce introduced Tina Turner as "the queen".

Aretha, known as the Queen of Soul, apparently felt that the use of the word to describe Tina Turner was a slap in her face.

"I am not sure of whose toes I may have stepped on or whose ego I may have bruised between the Grammy writers and Beyonce," Franklin said in a statement issued by her publicist. "However, I dismissed it as a cheap shot for controversy."

Beyonce's father, Matthew Knowles, told CelebTV that the whole situation was ridiculous. "I am not taking something this ridiculous to Beyonce. Beyonce referred to Tina Turner as a 'queen.' Not queen of gospel, queen of soul, queen of blues, Queen of England. I consider my wife a queen and sometimes call her that. Does Aretha have a problem with that?"

Neither side is responding to media requests for comment.
