Monday Madness: Hoop'd Up!
say my name, bitch
what not to wear
Ironically, the biggest infraction I saw had absolutely nothing to do with summer apparel. While enjoying a cup of coffee Saturday morning, my friend Lily and I spotted two women wearing pajama pants and cowboy boots. With the boots tucked into the PJ pants.
No level of caffeine jolt makes that acceptable.
success
One of my friends kept pointing to an unusually high hot-guy quotient, but the jury's still out on that one. Agree or disagree, you help but notice the many unique characters who were out and about, including one vertically challenged guy who was flaunting some serious game. Watching him slow dance with a girl -- while his head was strategically placed near her anatomical assets -- was one of the biggest highlights of our night. Pictures will follow. Hopefully.
Other noteworthy sights? For the first time ever, I saw a guy text somebody will dancing with a girl. Bad form? I say yes.
And, of course, we were hit by the ominous male presence who comes to a club unaccompanied, creepily follows girls around and can't grasp the concept of a cold shoulder. For years, I thought such a force existed only at high school dances and college parties without alcohol. False.
Happy Monday, everyone.

what's going on this weekend?
I predict this weekend will pretty low-key downtown, especially in view of the fact that next weekend's Cinco de Mayo should generate some pretty big crowds. Btw...I'm writing about Cinco de Mayo parties -- or, if you prefer, fiestas -- in my next column, so if you know of anything that's going on, drop me a comment.
Anyway, back to the weekend...the girls and I will probably go dancing tonight, barring any major last-minute drama. We'll probably either head downtown or venture beyond our comfort zone and revisit the Shanty Shack (4475 Warm Springs Road). I haven't been there since I wrote a column about it a little while ago, and I'm aching for some Pussycat Dolls spiked with a shot of Gretchen Wilson. You get the picture.
Other weekend activities? I'm hoping to hit the gym, since it seems like everyone in the entire world has come to the realization that they are three pounds overweight and consequently have taken up diets. Seriously.
Along those lines, I think I'm also going to dabble in the world of swimsuit shopping, which is perhaps every woman's worst nightmare. Can't live with it, can live without it...right?
Hope everyone has a great weekend. Can't wait to hear your stories.

what's going on tonight?
On the completely opposite end of the spectrum, you can also get down and dirty on the dance floor at The Vault. DJ Che spins starting at 8 p.m. It's $5, but ladies are free.
If you want live music, you have two pretty good options. San Diego-based rock act After the Crash hits Soho Bar & Grill at 10 p.m. The indie rock act was formed when its lead singer, once a millionaire stockbroker, lost everything. The show is $5...ladies are in free.
Finally, don't hesitate to try out Broad Street Blues (913 Broad St., Phenix City), where house band Peggy Jenkins and the Rhythm Roosters will entertain as usual. The show starts at 9:15 and it's $5.
what's in a name?
Deal of the week (Thursday): Gold Digger
[Singing: I ain't sayin' she a goldigger but she ain't dealin' with no broke...]
As featured in May's InStyle, this bangle has all the shimmer of gold dust. Sometimes everything that glitters is gold, ya dig?

THIS OR THAT Tuesday: OUCH!
My shoulder is giving me some serious problems so I'll have to delay my posts today. I honestly hope that the pain subsides so that I'm able to share my wonderful finds with you tomorrow. Send those rays of positivity my way :).
Hoping for the best,
ME
just hit "send"?
The article notes, "We imagine it (e-mail) as a casual private message that vanishes into the ether. In fact, it's likely to be far more permanent than any paper communication. E-mails can be stored with ease by the recipients and by third parties, such as the corporations from which they are sent."
The book, basically, is an etiquette guide...addressing everything from why it's not cool to address your professor with "hiya" in an e-mail to the implications of Britney Spears' 2006 decision to dump K-Fed via BlackBerry.
Do e-mail manners deserve a spot in book retailers' shelves? Absolutely. Take it from the girl who was dumped via a changed relationship status on MySpace. Do you think technology will ever progress to a point where that kind of breakup is not only expected, but accepted?
What's the biggest e-mail mistake you've made? What, if anything, would it take to get you to circulate a once-private e-mail out of rage?

omg lol ttyl
This article describes last weekend's National Texting Championship in New York, which attracted 250 competitors. Winners saw messages on a screen, texted them on their phones and were judged on whose (error-free) text got to the judges first.
The winner was 13-year-old Morgan Pozgar, who mastered texts ranging from "what we do in life echoes in eternity" to "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious." She got $25,000.
I, meanwhile, have never been a huge fan of text messages, but I think at times they serve their purpose. Especially if that purpose is dirty talk.
Btw...this nugget comes courtesy of my good friend Michael Timm, the former editor of my college newspaper and Webmaster of the coolest platypus site ever.
Monday Madness: My Heart's A Flutter
I'm not sure if it's the fresh water pearls or the Pervian opal but this necklace has got my heart a flutter. It reminds ME of Spring time in country where the fields are painted green and the butterfly sweetly flutter by.

Madonna Smooches With Britney And Christina; Justin, Coldplay Win Big At VMAs
By Corey Moss
Justin Timberlake and Coldplay were the big winners and Missy Elliott ended her Moonmen drought at the MTV Video Music Awards Thursday, but the actual awards were overshadowed by the steamy sight of Madonna kissing Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.
In a shocking opening performance of "Like a Virgin" and "Hollywood," the three divas raised Justin Timberlake's eyebrows — and everyone else's — when they locked lips just before Missy Elliott joined the trio.
Elliott, who had never won a VMA for her own work despite 17 nominations, won Video of the Year and Best Hip-Hop Video for "Work It," which came into the event with a pack-leading eight nominations. The hip-hop icon thanked Aaliyah in her acceptance of the top award, for which she brought out an enormous posse, including director Dave Meyers, producer Timbaland and her dancers.
Timberlake and Coldplay each earned three trophies, two better than Johnny Cash, who took only one of the six categories for which he was nominated, Best Cinematography.
Although Cash was often called "the man" (or "the mother----ing man" as Snoop Dogg put it), Timberlake's "Cry Me a River" beat the tearjerker "Hurt" for Best Male Video. The 'NSYNC star also won Best Pop Video and Best Dance Video.
"I want a recount," Timberlake said. "My grandfather raised me on Johnny Cash, I'm from Tennessee ... I guess I share this with him in some cool way. He deserves a round of applause." (To learn more about the infamous Man in Black, check out Kurt Loder's "Johnny Cash: Original Gangsta").
Coldplay, who dedicated their performance of "The Scientist" to Cash (the only other tribute to the legendary crooner during the show), batted a thousand with wins for Best Group Video, Breakthrough Video and Best Direction for "The Scientist."
Other multiple winners included Beyoncé's "Crazy in Love," for Best R&B Video and Best Choreography, and 50 Cent's "In Da Club," for Best New Artist and Best Rap Video.
Chris Rock received a warm welcome in his return to the VMA stage and proceeded to lash out with jokes aimed at everyone from P. Diddy (for "teaching the kids wrong from wronger") to Paula Abdul (for judging singers, "which is like Christopher Reeve judging a dance contest") in perhaps his most harsh opening monologue ever.
Rock continued to win many exclamations of "Damn!" from the crowd with his infamous introductions of presenters, beginning with LeBron James and Ashanti: "He's trying to be the next Kobe Bryant and she's trying not to be the next victim."
In the coveted Viewer's Choice Award, Good Charlotte, whose Benji Madden faced the challenge of following the sexy opening spectacle by kissing bassist Paul, appeared visually moved when accepting for "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous." The award made up for their loss to Linkin Park's "Somewhere I Belong" for Best Rock Video.
Eminem won Best Video From a Film for the "8 Mile" anthem "Lose Yourself," but lost two others to 50 Cent. The mentor and protégé made light of their competition, however, by joining each other at the podium for their acceptance speeches.
The Detroit rapper appeared in a much better mood this year, even joking about his assault of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog last year before his introduction of 50 Cent's performance, which he did with another trash-talking puppet, Special Ed from "Crank Yankers."
The MTV2 Award, which is voted on by viewers, went to AFI, who gave special thanks to their fan club, the Despair Faction.
In categories announced during the pre-show, Radiohead and Queens of the Stone Age both won their first VMAs, for Best Art Direction ("There There") and Best Special Effects ("Go With the Flow"), respectively, while the White Stripes, who won three Moonmen last year and had four nominations in 2003, also won an early trophy, Best Editing for "Seven Nation Army."
Aguilera, who returned to the stage for a medley of "Dirrty," featuring Redman, and "Fighter," with Dave Navarro on guitar, lost in all four of the categories for which she was nominated. Jennifer Lopez, who had four nominations, Kelly Clarkson who had three, and double nominees Sean Paul, Evanescence, Avril Lavigne, Sum 41, Nelly and No Doubt were also shut out.
There was no Michael Jackson surprise at the 20th VMAs, although Jack Black dressed the part when "accepting" his "Super Genius of the Universe Award." Black was one of a few surprise presenters, along with Jimmy Fallon, who did a spoof of "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy," and an unwelcome guest who bumrushed Snoop and Adam Sandler's hilariously-izzle presentation of Video of the Year.
The performances, capped by a Metallica covers medley that included Michael Jackson's "Beat It," were mostly about guest appearances, with 50 Cent and Method Man joining Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg and Don "Magic" Juan joining 50 Cent and Jay-Z joining Beyoncé.
Before the Madonna kisses had heads turning, Aguilera was doing more of the same on the red carpet, showing up looking like a hot pink flamingo in a dress made of feathers Other hot topics outside Radio City Music Hall were Snoop Dogg, who was accompanied by two ladies on leashes, and 50 Cent, clad in a sharp gray suit, matching hat and blinging with diamonds.
Outkast took the unofficial P. Diddy award for the best entrance, riding in on a flatbed truck, equipped with a stripper pole, that Big Boi called "the portable boom boom room."

what's going on this weekend?
If you're going to be in town this weekend, check out Daileys, 1039 Broadway in Columbus. It's the new club I wrote about in this week's column and I'd like to hear what you think.
In terms of live music, the lineup at The Loft looks pretty good. Tonight, the club hosts Zac Brown, a Southern rocker who says his music demonstrates what would happen "if Jimmy Buffett had a younger brother playing music in the Georgia wild." Saturday, you'll get New York City-based jam band U-Melt.
Another good bet for live music? Broad Street Blues (913 Broad St., Phenix City), which hosts house band Peggy Jenkins and the Rythm Roosters tonight and Tony Tyler Trance on Saturday. Both nights pretty much guarantee a good time.
TGIF.
smart is the new sexy
At least that's what this Washington Post article says. It's about how more 20- and 30-somethings are choosing intellectual hot spots -- library lectures, museum discussion series, contemporary debates -- as date venues. Also, it describes how the Web increasingly has helped single brainiacs connect, citing the 6,000-member Washington-based Web site intellectConnect as an example.
The best part? A spelling bee for New York singles. The event, held regularly, includes categories like "sex," "medical conditions" and "uncomfortable things."
Sounds cool. Kinda. Even though the article pertains mainly to bigger cities like Manhattan and Boston, I'm wondering how these activities would fare in Columbus. Is our nightlife in need of some intellectualism?
Send me your comments. I'll even ignore any misspellings.
Frantic Friday: Tickled Pink
These earrings really caught my eye. When I think of bamboo, I always think of a long stalk which is beige in color. The touch of pink is an unexpected surprise and really gives these earrings character.

what's going on tonight?
Other options? Shake your groove thing with tunes spun by DJ Che at The Vault. It's $5, but ladies are in free. The fun starts at 8 p.m.
As far as live music goes, probably your best bet is Soho Bar & Grill, which is slated to feature
Bulletproof Marshmallows, a reggae/rock band that hails from Montgomery, Ala. The show begins at 10 p.m. It's $5, free for the ladies.
Have fun, be safe and get ready for the weekend!

Monday, April 16, 2007
the weekend was...
I hit downtown both nights. Friday, I caught local party band Autumn Haze at The Vault. The show was great, and my only criticism is that I wish the crowd would have been a little bit larger. I talked to a couple bar owners on Friday and Saturday, and they all for the most part agreed this was an especially slow weekend. I blame the relatively cool temperatures.
Saturday, I embarked upon an entirely new adventure and visited Dailey's, the bar formerly known as Bonehead's. It was a pretty exciting night, especially since I previously had no idea this place was even open. If you're expecting an entirely remodeled interior, you might be disappointed. Sure, the ambiance seems generally less smoky/dodgy, but the overall layout is still the same. It'll be hard to tell where Dailey's will rank among the other downtown establishments, but they got a good crowd Friday and an even stronger one Saturday.
Mindblender was playing, which definitely helped things. I love those guys. When my mom was here in January, she (bravely) accompanied me to a Mindblender show at Muldoon's. Let's just say if you can get my mom to sing along with "Crazy Bitch," you must be doing something right. Enough said.
Finally, I was surprised at how many blog readers I met over the weekend. Cheers to the three gorgeous ladies I met Friday en route to my downtown adventure. A slightly less cool fan? The guy who, upon hearing my request for nightlife column ideas, hardly missed a beat before saying, "How about a nightlife column about a night in my bed?"
Um, yeah.
Happy Monday.

party @ savana's
One more thing...one of my friends just sent me this list via MySpace and I figured I'd pass it on. It's the top 25 rules guys wish women knew. I love to hear any suggestions for No. 26-50.
1. If you think you're fat, you probably are. Don't ask us.
2. Learn to work the toilet seat; if it's up, put it down.
3. Don't cut your hair. Ever.
4. Sometimes, we're not thinking about you. Live with it.
5. Get rid of your cat.
6. Saturday + Sunday = Sports. Learn this equation ( sports can be replaced with video games or paintball)
7. Anything you wear is fine. Really.
8. Women wearing Wonder bras and low-cut blouses lose their right to complain about having their boobs stared at.
9. You have too many shoes.
10. Crying is blackmail.
11. Ask for what you want. Subtle hints don't work.
12. Mark anniversaries on a calendar.
13. "Yes" and "No" are perfectly acceptable answers.
14. A headache that lasts for 17 months is a problem. See a doctor.
15. Don't fake it. We'd rather be ineffective than deceived.
16. Anything we said six or eight months ago is inadmissible in an argument.
17. If you don't dress like the Victoria's Secret girls, don't expect us to act like soap opera guys.
18. If something we said can be interpreted two ways, and one of the ways makes you sad and angry, we meant the other one.
19. Let us ogle. If we don't look at other women, how can we know how pretty you are?
20. Don't rub the lamp if you don't want the genie to come out.
21. You can either ask us to do something OR tell us how you want it done, not both.
22. Christopher Columbus didn't need directions, and neither do we.
23. You have enough clothes.
24. Men are from earth; women are from earth. Deal with it.
25. Nothing says, "I love you" like sex.

what's going on tonight?
In terms of live music, you can head over to Soho Bar and Grill at 10 p.m. to see Leslie, a Charleston, S.C.-based rock and blues band. Or change your usual nightlife routine by hitting Broad Street Blues in Phenix City, where Peggy Jenkins and the Rythm Roosters will play. That show starts at 9:30 p.m.
Finally, if you need to succumb to an urge to do the booty pop, go to The Vault, where DJ Che will spin as usual beginning at 8 p.m.
Have fun and be safe. The week's almost over!!!!!!
girls gone wild?
stretching the truth
Today I came across this list of supposedly the five lies all women tell men. Because I know you'll likely be too lazy to actually click on the link, here they are:
5. "You're the best in bed."
4. "I don't mind picking up the tab tonight. You always pay, anyway."
3. "I'm just not ready for a boyfriend right now."
2. "I don't mind if you go to strip clubs with the boys."
1. "I'm not mad at you."
All in all, I agree...with some disclaimers. First, and perhaps most importantly, the whole "I'm not mad at you" lie is complicated. It's kind of a double-edged sword, because as much as guys complain about when you say you're "not mad" or "nothing's wrong," they also hate confrontation. So sometimes I think guys just ask that to cover their bases, not because they really want to know the answer.
Also...reason No. 4 makes women seem like gold diggers. True, nobody's going to be ecstatic about paying for dinner, but it's not because of bent gender roles or relationship issues. I just get mad because I'm a broke ass ho.
And yes...anything that involves use of "the best" -- or, in my case, "the best ever" -- is probably a slight exaggeration of the truth. But not always.
Thoughts?

what's going on this weekend?
OK, maybe I'm exaggerating. We ARE in Columbus, remember. Still, I'm pretty amped about this weekend, and you should be, too. Tonight, my friend Andrea and I are going to Spices Caribbean Restaurant & Bar. It'll be my first time visiting the Columbus restaurant, so I'll be anxious to see where it ranks in my dining hierarchy. According to aforementioned Web site, Friday is karaoke night, while Saturday is Latin night with $3 margaritas.
If you need another food recommendation, try Jamaica Grill. And not only because I wrote a dining profile about it this week. Want to know what wasn't included in the article? Jamaica Grill's dirtily named cocktails, like 'Dat Bitch and Kama Sutra. Jamaica Grill hosts a party every Saturday night until about 2 a.m. I don't think the restaurant has its own Web site, but it's at 1901 A-3 Manchester Expressway in Columbus. Call 706-507-5745.
Oh! And something else I'm excited about doing this weekend is getting my nails done on Saturday with my friend Lily. Normally I wouldn't devote a blog paragraph to girly stuff -- OK, maybe I would -- but if you're new in town and looking for a clean, safe place to get a manicure/pedicure/eyebrow wax, try Infinity Nails, 1591 Bradley Park Drive in Columbus. It took me forever to find a good nail place here, and let's just say cleanliness isn't something you want to fool around with at those places. Two words (kind of): Hepatitis C.
In terms of nightlife, I'll probably head downtown as usual Saturday...don't really know where I'll end up, but I really hope dancing is in the cards. If you want live music, I think The Loft is probably your best bet this weekend. Friday, the club hosts Packway Handle, an Athens, Ga.-based bluegrass act that allegedly does a mean cover of "Like a Prayer." Saturday, you'll get No More Kings, rockers who say they're reminiscent of '80s nostalgia.
Anyway, have a great weekend and do something really crazy because I need column ideas.
TGIF.

what's going on tonight?
If the pictures in the post below turned you on -- or not -- go to the scene of the crime, Broad Street Blues in Phenix City. House band Peggy Jenkins and the Rythm Roosters will perform. The show starts at 9:30 p.m. and there's a $5 cover.
Soho Bar & Grill is also slated to offer live music tonight, with a performance by the Spencer Durham Group, a Georgia jam band fronted by an 18 year old. Band members compare themselves to The Black Crowes and The Grateful Dead. The show is $5 (ladies free) and starts at 10 p.m.
Finally...you can always opt for the usual booty shaking party at The Vault, where DJ Che will take on his standard Thursday spinning. The party starts at 8 p.m. and it's $5 (ladies free).
Happy Thursday. Can't wait for the weekend.

lights, camera, action?
It made me laugh, largely because I've been discussing my immense hatred of most chick flicks for the past week. When some of my female co-workers wanted to devote a recent Saturday night to watching "Under the Tuscan Sun," I threw a giant fit and eventually was successful in aborting the mission and going downtown instead. (Sorry, Dawn!)
I don't really hate all chick flicks. I just hate the ones that focus on someone who gets dumped and then rediscovers herself. So 99 percent of chick flicks.
My reason? I just feel as if these movies often work to only deepen depression by putting dejected women in a room together with a lifetime supply of Kleenex when the same women could be ditching their attempts at self-analysis, getting off their butts and actually filming another chapter of their own life movies.
Moreover, the majority of these breakup-turned-good movies work on a premise that something life-changing and inspirational will happen to you after you're dumped, when in reality that's not always true. You could spend months crying in front of your TV and gaining weight on Eskimo Kisses ice cream. So ironically, these movies also have a tremendous potential to backfire when a viewer comes home not to a mysterious stranger or lucrative independent career offer, but instead the same memory-inducing sheets she sought to escape.
Anyway, here are the top 10 chick flicks guys can enjoy, according to the article:
10. Meet Joe Black
9. Desperately Seeking Susan
8. Thelma and Louise
7. An Officer and a Gentleman
6. When Harry Met Sally
5. Serendipity
4. The Craft
3. Blue Crush
2. Mean Girls
1. Bridget Jones' Diary
I'll be anxious to hear what you think. I disagree with the list to some extent, because its writer seems to define "chick flick" as any movie with an ensemble cast that is primarily female.
False. Right?

Leonardo Dicaprio Gets Plastic Surgery After Fight
Our hearts go out to Leo as we hope that the rhinoplasty (nose surgery) will not jeopardize the actor’s looks. Nose jobs can often change a person’s look and have made or broken an actor’s career. As an example, Jennifer Gray of Dirty Dancing fame ended her career promptly after a nose job completely changed her look and rendered her unrecognizable to her fans.

Leo Takes the Bar to Vegas
Leonardo and Britney Spears made separate, but equally notable splashes in Sin City this weekend, with Leo showing up for JET Nightclub's first anniversary party with girlfriend Bar Refaeli and her dad, while Britney had dinner -- and a soft drink -- at TAO.
DiCaprio, perhaps returning the favor for Bar's taking him home to meet the folks in Israel last month, brought the lady and her pops to JET's birthday bash, partying with "Blood Diamond" co-star Djimon Hounsou, and pals Luke Wilson, Woody Harrelson and Kevin Connolly.
Meanwhile, Britney donned her now-customary wig 'n hat look to dine with two unidentified friends at TAO, munching on veggie dumplings and, yes, drinking Pepsi. We're told that she stayed for a brief dinner and wasn't spotted thereafter.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet to Star,
LOS ANGELES,CA–(rushprnews) March 29, 2007- Three-time Academy Award nominee Leonardo DiCaprio and five-time Oscar nominee Kate Winslet have been signed by DreamWorks Studios to star in “Revolutionary Road” to be directed by Academy Award winner Sam Mendes, it was announced today by Stacey Snider,Co-Chairman and CEO.
“Revolutionary Road” will be the first time DiCaprio and Winslet have worked together since the 1997 all-time box office hit and Oscar winning “Titanic.” Based on the celebrated novel by Richard Yates, “Revolutionary Road” is a heartrending story of thwarted passion and the search for fulfillment. A young couple find themselves caught between their own desires and the pressure to conform, with explosive consequences.
Justin Haythe has written the screenplay based on Richard Yates’ 1961 novel. Production will begin this summer with Paramount handling worldwide distribution.
John N. Hart, Scott Rudin, Bobby Cohen, and Mendes will produce in association with BBC Films.
“Revolutionary Road” was Richard Yates’ first novel and earned immediate acclaim. For two generations, it has continued to be a seminal landmark book. It not only achieved this special status among readers but by other writers who recognized its impact and story-telling skill. It was a finalist for the prestigious National Book Award and was named one of the Top 100 Novels on Time Magazine’s All-Time list.
“This is an extraordinary combination of three very special talents who represent the best in motion pictures. We are very fortunate to bring Leo, Kate, and Sam together to tell a story that can reflect the excellence that audiences around the world expect of them,” said Adam Goodman, President of Production at DreamWorks.
“Having bought the rights to the book and developed it with John Hart, we could not be more delighted at the way this film has come together,” said David Thompson, Head of BBC Films. “This is an extraordinary story with wide international appeal and resonance. To be working with the best and brightest talent from both sides of the Atlantic is particularly exciting.”
“As one of the most venerated post-war American novels, it is both fitting and thrilling that it’s come together with this extraordinary group of artists,” said Rudin, whose company, Scott Rudin Productions, produced 5 films last year, three of which (”The Queen,” “Notes on a Scandal” and “Venus”) garnered 11 Academy Award nominations and one win for Helen Mirren as Best Actress.
DiCaprio most recently starred in “Blood Diamond,” for which he received an Academy Award nomination, and in this year’s Best Picture Oscar winner, “The Departed.” He received his other Oscar nominations for his roles in “The Aviator” and “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape.” This will be his second film for DreamWorks having previously starred in the Steven Spielberg directed “Catch Me If You Can.”
Winslet was also honored with an Academy Award nomination this year for her role in “Little Children.” Her previous nominations were for “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” “Iris,” “Titanic,” and “Sense and Sensibility.”
Mendes has a long history with DreamWorks, having directed his first feature for the studio, Best Picture Oscar winner, “American Beauty.” Mendes received an Oscar and Golden Globe for his direction on “American Beauty,” as well as the Directors Guild of America’s award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Motion Pictures. He also directed “Road to Perdition” for the studio and is currently producing two films for DreamWorks - “Things We Lost in the Fire” and “The Kite Runner,” both of which will be released later this year.

Donald Trump wins ``hair match'' at Wrestlemania
Associated Press Writer
DETROIT -- One of the world's most famous 'do's _ considered by many to be a fashion don't _ remains intact after its owner, Donald Trump, prevailed in Sunday night's "hair match" at Wrestlemania.
Trump trumped World Wrestling Entertainment owner Vince McMahon in the "Battle of the Billionaires" at the WWE's largest annual pay-per-view event. After the real estate mogul and reality TV star triumphed, he gleefully took the shears to Mr. McMahon's head.
Trump and McMahon didn't actually battle it out in the ring, but instead had WWE wrestlers representing them grapple to see who would go bald. The winner, Trump's guy Bobby Lashley, bested McMahon's chosen wrestler, Umaga.
Trump wasn't just a cheerleader during the match, however _ he leaped off his feet at one point and drove McMahon into the ground, then pummeled him with some close-fisted punches.
Lashley's pinfall victory over the 300-plus-pound "Samoan Bulldozer" meant that McMahon had to yield to Trump's razor and the locks fell. Wrestling legend and action film actor "Stone Cold" Steve Austin served as the special guest referee for the match at Ford Field, home of the NFL's Detroit Lions.
It wasn't all laughs for Trump, though.
After celebrating in the ring with a cold beer _ Austin's preferred post-victory beverage _ an unsuspecting Trump was given a "Stunner" by Austin _ he had his head driven into Austin's shoulder. Lashley tended to Trump while Austin jogged toward the dressing room to the roaring approval of the crowd.
The "sports entertainment" event was held fittingly on April Fool's Day and was filled with loud music, pyrotechnics and screeching, flashbulb-snapping fans.
The Trump-McMahon showdown was one of the featured matches at the 23rd edition of the professional wrestling extravaganza, which returned to Detroit after two decades.
Wrestlemania 3, held at the Pontiac Silverdome in 1987, drew 93,000 fans and featured a seminal moment when Hulk Hogan bodyslammed Andre the Giant.
Sunday's event drew 80,103 fans, a new Ford Field record, breaking the previous record of 78,129 set during the December 2003 college BasketBowl between Michigan State and Kentucky.

Jennifer Lopez Likes To "F---ing" Party
According to the News, she proceeded to sing a couple of songs including a duet with Marc Anthony. Apparently when he wasn’t performing he was playing air guitar and lip-synced to every J Lo track. LOL. Someone tell Marc to get back in the studio and make a full-length salsa album. Leave that English pop ish alone. Go back to your roots, which you’re actually dope at.

Anthony Gives Lopez Singing Tips
The WAITING FOR TONIGHT performer suffered from anxiety about her ability while recording a new, un-named track, until a crash course from her singing spouse restored her confidence.
She says, "The song I was about to record was a beautiful ballad. Marc just looked at me and he said, 'Jennifer, read the words, sing the words. Don't think about your voice, think about what you are singing.'"
The couple, meanwhile, claim their Hispanic roots help them to understand each other.
Lopez says, "My husband is from my culture, from my background and he totally understands me both emotionally and creatively. He is the first person to give me total confidence as an artist."
